Talk proposals: Several to choose from

I am keen to speak at BFPG now that it's happening again. I could talk about a bunch of different FP topics depending on what people are interested in:

Scala

• Introductory content
• How Type Classes are done in Scala (even though Scala doesn't natively have them) and how different this is in Scala 2 vs. 3
• How my employer does Scala across lots of teams, and some of the history behind it (we're Australia's biggest commercial user of FP that I know of, so this might be interesting to folks)
• cats-effect vs. zio (would require more time to research; I have opinions but couldn't confidently give this talk today)

Haskell

• Type Classes as a concept and how they work in Haskell, why I like them so much
• I can talk about the major type classes in Haskell's base such as Monoid, Functor, etc.
• MTL style and why I like it (including classy MTL style?)
• I can talk about the different Haskell community organisations I have participated in (Hackage Trustees, CLC, Haskell.Org Committee) (this probably isn't very interesting to folks)

Open to other suggestions.

@gwils thanks for that mate! We have had a lot of technical talks so far in 2023 so an "FP in industry" talk would be great. Perhaps a fusion of that topic with high-level intro to Scala?

The June slot (2023-06-20) is free, if that works for you.
