Multiplatform #11

Why not for linux also? I don't agree with your reasons for not making it cross
platform. There is GTK and QT and they all work in linux/mac/windows, that
instead of using this windows .net "stuff". Also inside of QT you can use
opengl for accelerated graphics if necessary. No excuse.

Sorry, I do .net stuff only. But you have the source, so you can port it, or
write a new one. And please don't forget the video capture stuff and make it
plug and play please.

Why would one need video capture if one can store all the copter data in a file
and replay it? That is much less efficient. In linux there are several programs
to capture the screen if what you want is to show it in youtube. But I guess
the main reason for video capture is to debug. I can give you a script and a
small python program that does replay of the data from the copter without the
need of the complexity of video capture included on the program. This would be
plug and play with just a button on the screen. But well, I don't do neither
Java nor .net .

Video capture is for the video downlink, and yes you can do it with a separated
program, but then you won't be able to put flight information on it.
Anyway I don't want to open a debate here. The "Mission statement" for WinGUI
is simple : "It does not intend to replace the original MultiWiiConf utility,
but trying to offer a richer user experience by sacrificing multi platform
capabilities." and I'll stick to it. Source code and all graphics are open
sourced so if someone willing to write a portable one, then go ahead.

The reason why I'm complaining is not because I just want something for me. I
am very eager to help, fix bugs and add features in free software projects. I
have done it before many times. The minimum I expect before contributing is
that the software will at least work in my system. You are cutting yourself of
good help from well prepared programmers (linux users/programmers are very
capable). If the reason for this is because you can only program in windows
programing languages, then, well, there is nothing to do. It's just unfortunate
to loose the opportunity to get help from other very good programmers, and use
your time in something that could have had a bigger audience, and also not
putting aside the linux users.

If you change your mind, I'll be around to help.
