“Syndicate excerpts only” has no effect on atom feeds #59

Closed GoogleCodeExporter closed 9 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 9 years ago
What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. In advanced settings: alter “Syndicate excerpts only” to “No”
2. Publish an article with a non-empty excerpt (i.e. paste some chunk into
the excerpt box)
3. View the atom feed, it has the excerpt syndicated only

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?

Expected: Same as in the RSS feed, there it works

Instead: Articles that have an excerpt are shown as heading + excerpt only,
without body text

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?

Textpattern · 4.2.0

UAS:
Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux x86_64; de; rv:1.9.1.8) Gecko/20100214
Ubuntu/9.10 (karmic) Firefox/3.5.8

Hmm, I am seeing only excerpted feeds for rss & atom (4.2.0):

http://sankt-georg.info/rss
http://sankt-georg.info/atom

I switched to full feeds yesterday but did not publish any new content which
leads to
my question:

When (!) will Textpattern create the feed files? ([Bug]... if not after
switching the
output option to full feeds or vice versa?)

Cannot reproduce.

NB: Firefox' feed preview shows just <summary> elements (i.e. article excerpts)
when
an ATOM feed contains both <content> and <summary> elements, which might
mislead one
to assume the feed's lack of full article bodies.

Try "View Source" while you are at the feed preview to reveal the feed contents.

Could not reproduce on a fresh install of TXP 4.2.0 as well, hmmm. I did not
change
neither atom.php nor rss.php.

The issue with firefox's xsl-transformed rendering does not apply here. The
<content>-section just does not appear.

I will toggle all my plugins now. I once had trouble with ajw_clean_feed but I
guess
this has nothing to do with my problem. Will check that.

At least *my* issue with the RSS feed seems to be gone automagically.
FeedBurner sends full feed and full mails from RSS.

@Robert Thanks for the tip & info regarding ATOM feed content.
