Conversion / porting from Powershell to more portable format #1

Hi, this is just to track this (since I know you've also discussed it with others):

Whilst Powershell is convenient for scripting Excel functions in Windows, it's not available as a general scripting language on other platforms. I'd like to spend some time porting the equivalent logic to a more portable framework (say, Python with the OpenPyXl package) to make it more available.
