output type tabular makes no sense for splitting by character or byte (except if we would add --output-delimiter hardcoded to tab)
if splitting by character or byte the column_select input is unusable
maybe column select should also be replaced by a text input for the field select case in order to allow efficient input like x-z ...
selecting separating chars makes no sense for splitting by character or byte
