decently stable and fast OAP API connection using select() for the socket. I've been running it this way for the last couple weeks with not much issue although I had to scrap my attempt at showing banner notifications with the OBD connection status due to it causing the OBD server to stall and lose connection to the vehicle and OAP API.
added a car status icon to the top bar of OpenAuto which indicates if the api injection is active
a socketio client is also created with the oap event handler who tells the OBD server it should try to connect/reconnect to the car so the user does not have to manually
