Doesn't Awesome support feh?

You can use 'feh' to set up wallpaper in Awesome, but Awesome provides own facilities to handle wallpapers. Moreover Awesome doesn't depend on 'feh', so you can't rely that user have 'feh'.

The script uses feh for most WM simply because it is convenient and common.

Still, if a WM-native method is found, OK.
