Unable to upgrade to to latest intel edison board firmware version 2.1

bhunt2 commented 8 years ago

This is the original message sent out about this issue by Sabin.

I am trying to update the Edison to the new firmware. I ran into problem where the new firmware's size is .98GB and after the flash - the size of the edison is 768MB. I've tried both Intel's flash tool lite application and manual flash. Both unsuccessful.

The Steps I took: 1) using intel's flash tool lite, I successfully flashed the edison 2) tried to copy the new image into the edison's drive -- unsuccessful

Other Steps: 1) downloaded a flashall.exe tool from https://communities.intel.com/docs/DOC-25154 2) successfully flashed the edison 3) tried to copy the new image into the edison's drive -- unsuccessful

Not to push this issue off, but I don't believe this is a necessary task to complete your requirements for sprint 2. If you are trying to do something extra because you have completed all of your other tasks that is great. I don't see that there is anything completed in the sprint task board though, so I would focus on those tasks.

If you have updates on the tasks, please update them promptly so that we can see how those are going.

If you have additional information in regards to this issue, please record it here so that we can go over it at an appropriate time.

Sure. We reverted to older firmware. We can hold off on upgrading to newer firmware for later.

closing this for now, will re-open if necessary in the future. It would be nice to have a package that can be easily loaded into later firmware versions, but that is not your focus. Please just work with the version you are on and that will be fine.
