By the way, I am back home from Indonesia. Bibledit worked so well for our large team in all the times when we were working together on the same text.
Is this on Windows 11 perhaps? Or still Windows 10?
Sorry Ii forgot to say: It is Windows 11.

Ah okay. I tried it on Windows 11 too, and the results were good, no problems were seen, the issue you have reported could not be reproduced.
Here is the video of it.

More information is needed to reliably reproduce this issue.

Sorry for not responding. I just tried the Bibledit client program on this machine. The false position of the menu makes it impossible to use the program. I have tried full-screen and changing the size of the window. The menu displays below where it ought to be, but the actual links are in the black area above the menu. It is very hard or near impossible to find the position for the vertical three dots. However Bibledit Cloud works great with no problems. I actually don't use this machine much for Bibledit. I don't know of anything else I can try, as this is the only Windows 11 machine I have. Would it help to reinstall it? Or is there a different method to install it on Windows?
I just thought of something! This Windows laptop has a touch screen. Could that be the problem?
Well, never thought of that, but I guess that this could be the problem.
Which type of laptop is this?
Is it similar to this one: https://www.amazon.com/Gateway-Touchscreen-Convertible-Mini-HDMI-GT-116/dp/B09XKTK4RB ?
If it is not similar to the above laptop, could a link be posted to this issue where this laptop could be bought?
It is probably similar. Mine has an Intel Core i7 processor. 512 GB Mine is not a convertible. It can't fold backwards, in order to use it like a tablet. I'll take a picture of the box.
It was bought at Walmart. Oh, I hope you don't have to spend money to solve the problem for me. I don't actually use this laptop for my daily work on our translation. The cloud version of Bibledit is enough for me on this device. However, if the problem is related to the touch screen, it will come up with someone else. This one looks the same: https://www.walmart.com/ip/Gateway-14-1-Ultra-Slim-Notebook-FHD-Touchscreen-Intel-Core-i5-1235U-8GB-RAM-512GB-SSD-Fingerprint-Scanner-Tuned-THX-Audio-2MP-Camera-HDMI-Windows-11/403416787?wmlspartner=wlpa&selectedSellerId=0&adid=22222222227000000000&wl0=&wl1=g&wl2=c&wl3=42423897272&wl4=pla-51320962143&wl5=9026088&wl6=&wl7=&wl8=&wl9=pla&wl10=8175035&wl11=online&wl12=403416787&veh=sem&gclid=Cj0KCQjw4s-kBhDqARIsAN-ipH3GbXX4roWDLtu789wfX66k7D1zSBxCVAYY2yZyUK5R08ryxTM7h3EaAidTEALw_wcB
Thanks for the extra information about the type and model of the device. It's good that the issue does not immediately affect you but, as you said, it is going to affect someone sometime. If one were to send this device, or a similar one, to me, that would be better indeed :)
Okay, so a Lenovo tablet / laptop was bought, a used one, with Windows 11 Pro, and with a touch screen, and the newest Bibledit was installed on it, this is version 5.0.996.
Everything works fine, the menu is in the right place, the menu can be used easily with touch operation.
Here is a picture of it.
So the problem cannot be reproduced here.
Where is your version different from the version here? What version of Windows 11 are you running?
Hopefully these will answer your question.
My version is considerably different.
I am sorry to see you spend money looking for this! I think it is best to let it drop, since I am probably the only one in the world with this problem. And the cloud version still works. Thanks so much for trying so hard to research this.
Thanks for the extra information, that helps. But once the money is spent on this, it's better for just now that I proceed trying to reproduce the problem.
Would it help to reinstall it? Or is there a different method to install it on Windows?
Just wonder now whether uninstalling and reinstalling would fix it.
When uninstalling, also remove the folder C:\bibledit as that contains the data, so is important to be removed.
If you were able to assist, that might bring us closer to the root problem here.
Because the problem occurs on your device, but not on a similar device here, the Lenovo device.
I uninstalled it, deleted the old 996 install file, and redownloaded it. I deleted the old Bibledit directory. When I ran the program after installing it, the result is the same. The menu links are above and to the left of the visual menu links.
The 5.0.983 install exe gave a download error twice. Using 980, same result.
I downloaded the zip file for the current version. I read how to make a setup file. If you want me to try a different method of installing, I'm willing. Give a nudge. This machine has Norton security installed, part of the free limited time package. I rather doubt that that could be interfering.
Thanks for trying out all those steps. It is weird that reinstalling gives the same results, yet here all is fine at first attempt.
I too doubt that Norton security will interfere, but probably have to try to see if that makes a difference.
The newest plan now is to update the internal web browser engine, perhaps that newest engine will display better than the current engine. I'll update this issue with more information once that is available.
It is clear from the symptoms that the problems are caused by the web engine that Bibledit uses internally. An update was now made to that web engine. The newest version is now used by Bibledit.
The new and updated version of Bibledit, with the new web engine, can be downloaded here:
https://github.com/bibledit/windows/releases/tag/5.1.002
Would it be possible for you to try this version out on your machine?
Over here it behaves well on all machines that it was tested on: Windows 10, Windows 11, and Windows 11 with a touch screen.
Way to go! You solved it! Amazing. Brilliant!
Amazing that this fix worked, glad that it now is back in shape again, and thanks you for testing it and confirming the fix.
The menu choices are not lined up with where the mouse links are. The actual links are above the menu text.
