Set Default Link Type #33

Closed GoogleCodeExporter closed 9 years ago

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Clicking on the Set Default Link Type button
2.
3.

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
I understand that this button allows us to view and change the default of the
current network so that as we create links and label their link type it would
change the value to a preset value. Currently these values can be changed but
it does not save these changes as soon as you exit the Set Default Link Type
window.

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?

Nexta 32 Windows 7
Please provide any additional information below.

If I understand correctly, your reported issue is about setting the default
link attributes for links to be created in the network. My report after trying
to replicate this issue:

After clicking on the Set Default Link Type button, the Default Link Properties
for New Links window opens. I select a link type, change the attributes (speed,
capacity, and number of lanes), and click OK (which closes the window). I then
proceed to draw links, and I can confirm that those default attributes are
associated with the new links. When I open the window again, the link attribute
settings are still the same (the same link type, speed, capacity, and number of
lanes). If I click OK again, those settings are still preserved. With the
window open, if I click on the same link type I chose before, it will reset the
attribute settings back to the original values.

This all appears to be working as designed (this button/window was only meant
to edit attributes before creating new links). If your intention is to
permanently change the link type default values (which are stored in the
input_link_type.csv file in the project folder), you can edit the file in NeXTA
by going to the Project menu, and select "3. Assignment/Simulation Settings".
There is a "link type" tab in the interface which allows the user to edit the
input files, and click "Save Data" to save any changes. Alternatively, you can
make edits in a text editor or Microsoft Excel.

I'm not sure I correctly addressed this issue, so please reply back if I missed
a component of the issue you reported.

Thank you for the reply. As I attempted to follow the same steps you took it
would not allow me to save the new values. I will reopen and re attempt. Thank
you again.
