Adding Link to BIDS Merch on Site #315

Closed bendhouseart closed 10 months ago

bendhouseart commented 1 year ago

Adding a link/button to the main site so that BIDS fans are able to locate and purchase sweet sweet BIDS merchandise.

Draft until I'm happy with alignment and have added a button instead of a link.

closes #311

From a UI/UX perspective, I am not sure it is clear that the image is a byperlink.

Maybe we should add a button.

Remi-Gau commented 1 year ago

Maybe also add a "shop" section to the navbar

sappelhoff commented 1 year ago

to me it's a bit "in your face", potentially undermining the seriousness of our endeavor -- can we make this a little more subtle?

christinerogers commented 1 year ago

lol I see what you mean @sappelhoff

how about instead something more literal and less peppy, but still suggests news:

Re Remi's comment

Maybe also add a "shop" section to the navbar

Given it's just the t-shirts and stickers, for now I think a Shop navbar button could be overkill. In addition to this landing page item and a News item, add a similar button in Get Involved page

FWIW: No more navbar buttons! Just because we can doesn't mean we should. :-)

Yeah. Reorganize the navbar. Then add more buttons.

I don't mind the in your face: but maybe make the red new star a tad smaller

bendhouseart commented 10 months ago

@bendhouseart finish this

bendhouseart commented 10 months ago
  • "BIDS t-shirts now available" in white text, in a dark grey/black button (with grey border) same width as the tweets column and sitting just above it.

Very austere suggestion, it's been noted.

Still not sure what you're all on about, but I've decreased the size from 300 to 250 square; can bump it down a wee bit more if you like. I will say that once the new-ness wears off I'm happy to get rid of the star and add a static link or or or a little tiny white t-shirt image instead.

Cheers.

I did not realize but now that the twitter column is gone, you have to scroll to down to see the new stuff... I don't have a degree in business and marketing but I feel that the novelty should be at the top, no?

It's a tough balancing act with this crowd, I'll wait until @sappelhoff chimes in before I make those sorts of changes.
