Instead we get a nasty beep when trying to click anything out of desperation.
Added annoyance is the lingering visual effect which is most likely out of position.
Best outcome would be to activate the app (and alert) when user tries to work with the marker / overlay, but given it's a non-activating panel we may have to find a workaround instead.
