Opt-out request for saschawillems #2091

Open SaschaWillems opened 3 weeks ago

I request that the following data is removed from The Stack and StackOverflow:

Note: If you don't want all resources to be included just remove the elements from the list above. If you would like to exclude all repositories and resources just add a single element "all" to the list.

SaschaWillems commented 3 weeks ago

Please refrain from adding ANY of my future repositories. I'm not sure if what you're doing aligns with the GDPR.

Hi @SaschaWillems, I updated your initial opt-out comment with - all which will exclude all your future repositories as well.

I'd still like to get an answer as to how this complies with the GDPR and/or licensing. The list above contains repositories that have NO license, so I'm not sure how what you do (opt-out, using code with no license) is even legal, esp. in regards to how european/german copyright works.

E.g. how do you make sure that my code won't be included via forks from other peoples? Or from repos where people use MY code in a license compliant way?

Please also let me know what you do about models already out in the wild that contain my repos without my consent.

I do work in a law-regulated area and I know that opt-out is very hard to get in line with european laws (which tbh. I'm thankful for).

But even if what you're doing is legally correct, I still feel like it's morally wrong and feels like stealing work from people. You should've at least informed me (and all other affected github users) beforehand.

@lvwerra : Any update on this? I'd like to get a clear answer, esp. in regards to how this complies with the GDPR and (european/german) copyright rules.

If you can't answer, I may be tempted to raise this with the EU.
