Remote control function not working on HTC Desire

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Choose "Use as Remote control"

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
To be able to use the "remote control function" as it is meant to be used. 
None of the "buttons" on the remote control works. 

What version of XBMC Remote are you using?
0.8.4-beta1 Rev: 703

Which Android device are you using (and which ROM, if custom)?
HTC Desire - LeeDroid V2.1a (FroYo)

Which XBMC revision are you running and on which platform?
10.0 on Ubuntu 10.10

Please provide any additional information below.
