XBMC Remote on Gingerbread

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Connecting to XBMC
2. Listing Artists, Songs, Albums etc.
3.

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
I had a Galaxy S before with Android 2.2.1 and everything was working as 
expected. Now with the Nexus S and Android 2.3.1, it takes at least 30 seconds 
to connect and about 40 seconds to list the artists.

What version of XBMC Remote are you using?
v0.8.5-beta1 (but i also had the problem with the release before)

Which Android device are you using (and which ROM, if custom)?
Google Nexus S with Android 2.3.1 (no custom rom)

Which XBMC revision are you running and on which platform?
10.0 R35648

Please provide any additional information below.
Tried to use XBMC Remote with AVD (Android Virtual Device) with Gingerbread and 
I have seen the same behaviour there.  So it looks like a general problem with 
gingerbread.

You can close that issue.
After I realised, that the remote is working fine over 3g, I started to capture 
the network packages.
Although i've entered the ip-address in the host-configuration of xbmc remote, 
the nexus s tried to resolv the ip address: 
2   2.327666    192.168.1.16    192.168.1.1 DNS Standard query PTR 
48.1.168.192.in-addr.arpa

workaround: i've rooted the phone, an added an entry to /system/etc/hosts
