Week 11 Learning Challenges

As before, there are still TWO separate deadlines, one for Friday, one for Sunday. But for this week, both parts are to be completed INDIVIDUALLY.

I am having trouble figuring out how to use Firebase. Where do I find my Firebase secret that I need for zapier? (from zapier:) "Your Firebase secret, found in Forge under the auth tab"

I can't find the Auth tab or Forge...

Also when I click on "manage app" button, I am taken to https://karisantos-bigdata-hci.firebaseio.com/ which looks very ugly (but so does doubleshow-bigdata-hci.firebaseIO.com)

It is in "Secrets", the bottom icon on the left hand side....

@KevinKGifford - bottom icon of left hand side of what? (what URL??) when I look at your page: https://kevinkgifford-bigdata-hci.firebaseio.com/ it looks as bad as mine (no css?). I found my secret, but only by searching the ugly page karisantos-bigdata-hci.firebaseio.com

Hmmm, not sure what you're looking for Kari - my " https://kevinkgifford-bigdata-hci.firebaseio.com" is exactly as I expect it to be; looks just like Tom's in the exercise write-up.

Sorry for all my questions... Did anyone get Facebook trigger working on Zapier? I can't seem to get a trigger.

Kari -

When setting up the path to Firebase make it precisely "event/gmail" (if gmail is your e-mail account). Then your Firebase tree will have the same layout as Tom's ('doubleshow") in the exercise description.

Then in the immediately below dialogue box put something like "email_date" in the first (left) box and from the right box click the pull down menu and select e-mail date.

Then test for success and set to run periodically (defaults are fine).

Hi Kari, I could not get facebook to work. Zapier seemed to be limited to facebook pages, not individual facebook accounts. I got gmail, twitter, and meetup.com to work. Brian

@co-bri you are probably right about Facebook. I wasn't able to test Facebook because I don't use Facebook. thanks for sharing this.
