Toronto Police crackdown at the Land Day rally in Toronto
[Type of Resource: e.g., Article, Study, Video, Infographic]
News Article
Description:
There were a number of arrests at the Land Day rally in Toronto. The Toronto police issued a statement stating that "a man was operating a truck with occupants in the bed of the truck while it was in motion". There were several other charges listed in the statement as well. However, independent reporting shows that the truck was moving no faster than a float at parade, which are allowed. Also, eyewitness accounts from the Land Day rally seems to indicate that the Toronto police was more likely instigating an altercation by weaving in and out of the protestors on bicycles and the mounted police (on horseback) coming towards the protestors.
