The pins on EXP1 are incorrectly labeled on the BTT002 V1.0-PIN diagram. Specifically PE8 and PE9 should be swapped.
Those 2 pins map to LCD-EN and LCD-RS as shown in the schematic
From the MCU page of the schematic. LCD-RS maps to PE8 and LCD-EN maps to PE9 indicating they are mislabeled in the PIN diagram
