See this article which mentions image metadata fields that could be used to position annotations (based on image pixel coordinates) on a world map. I think we would need the annotation pixel coordinates, the image (center) geo position, the distance to the ground and the GPS heading for this. BIIGLE could support import of these metadata fields to plot annotations on the world map or export them to a GIS (#18).
I think this is not officially mentioned in WP3, though.
