4 years ago Wow, so it turns out that the "Google Images Restored" addon updated to include its own version of the "View Image" button, but the guy did such a bad job of implementing it that it overrode this version. Just by disabling that, now this versions View Image button shows up in the redesigned Google Images search again. My apologies for not trying this sooner, it was at Midnight after a long day at work when I encountered this.
I have both this addon and "Google Images Restored" installed on my browser, because when using this without GIR, the "View Image" button does not show up at all. This is not my issue, however. Prior to my updating my browser to the latest version, after putting it off for so long, the View Image button would work as expected, opening a full version of the image in a new tab by itself. However, now it take me to an autogenerated thumbnail, the same one one would see if they simply right clicked and selected "View Image." I assume this must be due to how google generates the urls for its thumbnails, because it doesn't make much sense to for it to simply be the newest firefox release that's causing the issue. I hope the developer is able to find a workaround - I'm sure they feel the same tedium I do at having to visit the webpage in order to see the full version of the image (otherwise why make the addon) - but I understand if they can't.
