Some routes have you get off BART super early and then bike long distances when it would be much faster to remain on the train.
Example:
This route from Mission District to Black Diamond Mines Regional Preserve should be a pretty straightforward yellow line ride from 16th St Mission to Pittsburg Center and then a bike ride. Instead it has you ride the yellow line one stop then bike for 7 hours. Another time when I tried this, I was told to take the red line just to West Oakland then bike.
@abhumbla adds: "I think after some certain distance graphhopper starts wanting to minimize time on transit, and if you go farther than that it doesn't want to route at all. There are clear zone boundaries where this happens. Like if you move the end point closer to Pittsburgh it'll work, there's a definite point where it gets bad. Similarly if you move the start point to Oakland it works great"
