To make it clear what's required to implement new clients we need to write a specification on the needed structure, functions, etc.
Clients are a "works-as-written" implementation and have no structure or something that makes it easy to guess what they do at the moment. COLUMN_TYPES and ACTIONS also require a refactor as soon as possible.
