Hello,
It's the same guide written to cover both ways: Quantum and Without Quantum. If you are not interested in quantum, i advice you to skip it since you are new to OpenStack. Nova-Network will do the job for now and once you are familiar with OS, you can always come back and replace nova-network with Quantum.

Hi, I have below h/w with me : Node Role: NICs Control Node: eth0 (100.10.10.51), eth1 (192.168.100.51) Network Node: eth0 (100.10.10.52), eth1 (100.20.20.52), eth2 (192.168.100.52) Compute Node: eth0 (100.10.10.53), eth1 (100.20.20.53) My Doubt : After reading "note 3" am bit confused as ... 1)whether i should follow the same guide as it is. ??? OR 2)Whether i should follow the same guide , but follow nova section from the hyper linked guide. I would prefer to use the same guide as it is, but will it work ?? thanks for the reply !
mhh but my question is slight different, Let me re-phrase.
1) With above NICs configuration, Can i use quantum ?? 2)"Many people have been complaining on how they are not being able to deploy OpenStack Folsom without having 3 NICs on the controller node", what does this mean ?? Do we require 3 nics on controller to deploy quantum ??
Hi there,
Well now your words make more sense to me.
If you have this configuration on your machine than you can install Quantum
Control Node: eth0 (100.10.10.51), eth1 (192.168.100.51) Network Node: eth0 (100.10.10.52), eth1 (100.20.20.52), eth2 (192.168.100.52) Compute Node: eth0 (100.10.10.53), eth1 (100.20.20.53)
Actually The 3 NICs doesn't have to be necessarily on the controller node, i do it on the network node. I admit that installing OS Folsom with Quantum using machines with 2 NICS only is a bit hard but it is possible ( see 2NICs/GRE and 2 NICs/VLAN branches of the guide). The reason for using 3 NICs instead of 2 is shown in the figures: we tend to separate the networks (management, public, vm config) to ease the flow and avoid conflicts.

Now its more clear to me , Thank you !
My installation has reached upto n/w node , hope everything goes "Ok", fingers Crossed :) !

don't get ed-motivated it is simple but tricky ... best of luck :)
