12 years ago Yes, I agree re: additional comment. We do not want private messaging mechanism between students. It can cause huge problems.
Private msg-ing with therapist is definitely something on the table, but we'll discuss that in the future.
Idea: We may need messaging mechanism - depending on how you think talking privately between members is appropriate. Members should probably have private messaging with therapists though. See more info in the note
Additional Comment: My concern is that even if we allow members to specify if they are OK with being contacted by others, private conversations like that between, say, troubled individuals might make their situation worse, e.g. if someone is abusive, aggressive or is encouraging to build online relationships around negative topics (e.g. substance use) In contrast to support groups this communication would not be mediated by a professional, so I'm not sure if this can turn into rather harmful experience
