Good idea, i like more ability to customize our app. Would you have a set of predefined gestures and the users simply pick what one defines what action? or define them from scratch?
(i think the first way with predefined ones makes more sense personally) i think that's what you mean though.
I also like customization but I'm a pretty strong opponent of feature bloat. Think of the most popular apps, like Draw Something, Angry Birds, etc. Even GitHub hides a lot of options from you in a clean UI that it could let you customize.
Essentially I'd say to focus on polishing our app first, and implement new features later.
Billy has a good point, maybe a set of default gestures? and a very minimalistic means to switch from default to custom mode?
so on default mode the user does not even have to worry about those options (or does not even get to see them) with one option "custom mode" there might be the option to enable multiple customizable features (these might be hidden in an advanced options or something)
just an idea. This way we can hide advanced features such as customizable gestures and keys (for keyboard mode) and make them available if the user decides to enable "advanced" options? compromise between simplicity and having all features?
I definitely like the advanced mode idea, especially for an app like ours. Users often fall into one category or another, and we'll just be smart about what options we pick for either one.
Closed this since it pops up in my issues tab still 😆 . @billycao this was a really fun project!
Hahaha but we didn't build this trackpad feature! ;P
Wi-mote.. that brings back some memories.
Hope you all are doing well!

So I've had a few dumb ideas about the trackpad whilest attempting to study for finals, which I very much wanted to put out before spring break (aka when I shall lose any brain cells I may have):
(old ideas) -pinch to zoom -3 finger left/right swipe for back/forward respectively
(new ideas) -turn gestures on/off via preferences -define/macro some subset of gestures (bring up keyboard and then let them pick and choose?)
All of these should be pretty easy once I have time. If you have any input on em let me know.
