aedeploy fails for Go Hello World Starter App #318

What steps will reproduce the problem?
Follow the sequence of steps given at
https://cloud.google.com/go/getting-started/hello-world

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
Ideally I would have liked to see a message that says that the app is deployed.
Instead it just hangs at the step given in the Trace below:

Please provide any additional information below.
Windows 7, gcloud is updated to latest version with components updated too.

Trace:
You are about to deploy the following modules:
 - <someapp>/default (from [C:\Users\irani_r\AppData\Local\Temp\aedeploy290579859\app.yaml])
     Deployed URL: [https://<someapp>.appspot.com]

Do you want to continue (Y/n)? Y

Beginning deployment...
Verifying that Managed VMs are enabled and ready.

FYI... when I run it in debug mode, I get the following message:

Copying certificates for secure access. You may be prompted to create an SSH
keypair.
DEBUG: Loaded Command Group: ['gcloud', 'compute', 'copy_files']
DEBUG: Error copying certificates. Retry 0 of 20.

and it stays at that last message.

Thanks for reporting this issue (especially debug part).

Is this issue repeatable for you?

Yes - it is repeatable in the sense that the process hangs at the following
message without debug "Copying certificates for secure access. You may be
prompted to create an SSH keypair."

And in the DEBUG mode, I got
DEBUG: Loaded Command Group: ['gcloud', 'compute', 'copy_files']
DEBUG: Error copying certificates. Retry 0 of 20.

and sometimes I get only this:
DEBUG: Loaded Command Group: ['gcloud', 'compute', 'copy_files']

The process stays there. I also checked if some popup had appeared for entering
the keyphrase, etc ... tried stuff like sending a few <Enter> keystrokes but it
did not move beyond that.

Just FYI -- this happened on my Windows 7 machine. It worked like a charm on my
Mac.

To help troubleshoot could you please do the following?

  1. Reproduce the hang
  2. Run `gcloud info` and look for the line,
        Last Log File: [/Users/jeffvaughan/.config/gcloud/logs/2015.10.20/<blah>.log]
  3. Double check that that that file doesn't contain any personal you're not okay with me seeing!
  4. Email the log file directly.

Per conversation offline it looks like this is an instance of an bug that was
fixed in the latest gcloud release. Closing. Let's reopen if it reoccurs in
gcloud 0.9.83 or later.

The problem is occurring with 0.9.83 too.
