When I trying to access https://bincrafters.jfrog.io/artifactory/api/conan/public-conan I got this:

Time flies when you’re having fun. Your 14-day trial may be over, but you have options!

Need help choosing the right subscription or additional time on your trial? Just let us know and a DevOps expert will reach out to assist you.

Same as #1451 and #1454

Hey all,

I am so sorry that there was no announcement in advance, but this time our Conan remote is down for good.

Since Conan Center Index emerged, the focus naturally shifted there and with it the required resources to maintain recipes, tools and infrastructure. Bincrafters has a lack of human resources for a while now.

I did start to write a tool that can be locally run and would continue to provide our currently existing recipes to the Conan client in a transparent, drop-in way with the goal of making our current recipes accessible indefinitely and preventing existing software that relies on us from breaking. But then I got distracted with other things and also have been sick in the last two weeks with Covid and a cold simultaneously.

I did not get around, before the shutdown of our remote, to run a full recipe export that can be read by the new tool. And now, it is unfortunately really hard to get every recipe in the format required. All of our Conan recipes reside within git repositories, but the way we wrote recipes and the way they got exported/uploaded evolved endless times over the course of our existence. It isn't impossible but would also require quite a bit of time to get it done now, which was the problem to begin with.

Could you all please tell us for what recipes (and perhaps tools) you still rely on Bincrafters so that we can help you better moving forward? Thanks.

Thank you for the update, and thank you for the hard work you have been doing to maintain this remote.

The recipe I was using is wxWidgets, which I suspect is likely one of the more challenging ones at the best of times let alone trying to rebuild it without the remote. For the short term I have other ways to work around this, and in the longer term it does seem like wx's inclusion on Conan Center is imminent, so that may be one you can skip when setting up the drop-in tool.
