This issue validates chatops for Slack/GitHub integration, and can be closed after seeing the issue appear in the #repo channel in Slack.

I don't see a way in the Slack UI popup for /github issue binkley/modern-java-practices to assign to the project wall.

Questions to answer:

Should we include a chapter, or material in an existing chapter, to discuss chatops?
Does this help improve team productivity, or make life better for folks?

I saw the message for this issue come across in the #repo channel.

So here is the difference:

Merely pushing a branch does not trigger Slack notifications by default (maybe with further configuration)
Creating & building a PR does trigger Slack notifications by default
