Suggestion: Open Sourcing games #703

Hi, one feature I've thought of is that maybe you could open source games, i see two possible cases where this could be useful.

When the game is still on sale, it could provide a boost in fans while taking a bit of sales (for example 5% up and down if you just release the source code 20% if you release both the source code and the assets)

Also it could affect positively to the hype of a remake (adding a % of the hype of the original game) and negatively if you're doing a remaster.

Other issues would be how would it impact to the quality of the game if it's open sourced, like, would characteristics be improved? Would the ratings of the game improve? It could make free updates automatic every 3 months while having one developer assigned to that project as a maintainer....

I don't know, maybe it can add some more strategy to the game

Been thinking a bit more about this.

It could help with a 30-40% chance of a port to another platform (maybe just a Linux port) being done by the community.

On the update side, it would probably make sense to have it provide a buff to certain aspects, like lowering the cost of optimising the game, enhancing the AI or development related aspects of the update.

Open sourcing a multiplayer game could improve your sales but reduce your monthly pay due to server reimplemtations being used.

I guess It can have many ramifications, but it could introduce strategic options that could be interesting, maybe
