Similar to previous requests for merchandise ( #198 ), but think it would add an additional feeling of personal connection if you could have characters from popular games become mascots with their own fanbase. It could add additional mechanics as a studio to use the power of an IP/mascot to boost sales, sell merch, undercut competition etc.
If a game reaches some level of popularity, you could have the option of creating a mascot. Including a mascot in future games could increase or decrease hype/popularity for a game, but bad games could damage the fanbase for that mascot.
Buying, selling, or licensing mascots could provide more ways to experience CGS and could put a face on the many games your studio produces across a game.
Mechanics
Mascots affect the popularity of IPs/Games/Studios
Mascot lose popularity over time until new games come out
Marketing sliders, updates for characters to maintain popularity
Mascot popularity is ranked
Bad games could reduce popularity (Duke Nukem), good games could revive old ones (Doomguy)
Buy and sell mascots with competitors to trade fans for money (or money for fans)
Crossover games like Super Smash Bros. etc. mean profiting on the popularity of famous characters (or receiving money for the right to use your characters)
Mascots can become randomly more popular than their games (Sonic fandom)
Mascots automatically generated for competitors, players that don't want to use feature
Art
Would be nice if the mascot had customizable art (like cover art #515 ), based on categories (knight, plumber, chef, alien, animals etc.) Could be related to theme. Allow image uploads?
Put posters, cardboard cutout, statues? in the office
