I tried a while ago: https://opencollective.com/ntfy -- They wouldn't have me, because I am a solo dev. :-(
O_o I wasn't aware of this requirement. Is it for OpenCollective in general or only for a specific fiscal host? Is this stated somewhere in the documentation?
I think they have GitHub auto verification (although I never tried), this might only work for GitHub organizations and not individual accounts. Did you ever consider moving the project to a GitHub organization (which might also facility adding additional contributors in the future)?
The verification process is very manual. I got emails from a community manager there:
First email:
However, we require a collective to have at least two admins before we can approve an application. Having two administrators to manage expenses helps to ensure a project's sustainability in case one admin needs to take leave. Are you able to add a second one from your project to your collective so we can approve you? Let me know!
Second email:
That's alright, and you're right, that's not what I am looking for. I realize, looking closer, that I'd also like you to have this hosted on an org - right now, it's your personal account. I think that OSC might be overkill for you at the moment, too. GitHub Sponsors may be a better bet, as they fund individuals. Or Patreon. You're welcome to join our Slack and to use our docs, which have resources on how to build out your OSS project. > Best of luck, and let me know if I can help in any other way.
As for the GitHub org, I have been holding off on that because "github.com/ntfy" is not free. I got "ntfy-sh" and "ntfysh", but that's not what the project is called. It's "ntfy". "ntfy.sh" is the free server and Pro variant...
Anyway, I'm okay with this mostly ...
Thanks for the additional information. I didn't know that this is a requirement for OpenCollective.

As the ntfy
user/org doesn't have any (public) projects or contributions, you might be successful to report the account to GitHub and dispute the name, given that you own the domain ntfy.sh
.
GitHub stopped allowing name dispute requests about two months before I tried. So no dice. I even asked a current GitHub employee to help out and he said the account has private activity apparently.
:bulb: Idea Would be great if you would support donations via OpenCollective (e.g. using the fiscal host Open Source Collective like many other great projects).
