Admin rights for managing collections of tools #353

Open lmatalonga opened 6 years ago

lmatalonga commented 6 years ago

From Leslie Matalonga (ELIXIR-ES, EXCELERATE WP8):

I am concerned that anyone can add or remove tools from the collection we have created (Rare Disease, RD-connect, etc.) and as we are using them to retrieve information through your API to another website if someone add any tool to the “RD-Connect” collection it will automatically appear there. How should we handle this? Can we have some kind of “admin” rights to use the collection?

Thanks! Leslie Contact email: leslie.matalonga@cnag.crg.eu

@lmatalonga I think the best way to handle it at this moment is to create an "RD-Connect" subdomain https://bio.tools/subdomain to which you can add the relevant tools and also provide some additional description metadata. The subdomains cannot be edited by other people, so you will not have the issue of someone else adding tools to them.

PS. an example subdomain could be https://rare-disease.bio.tools

Thanks a lot! I think this solution will work

@lmatalonga we'll leave this issue open for now; an implementation where collections are "owned" by users will take some thought (various ways it could be done)
