figshare as a DataMed data source #267

Hello,

We recently received a few outside queries as to whether we were planning to be involved as a repository data source for DataMed and I wanted to reach out to see if this would be possible. Would you be able to let me know how we could participate and what would be required from our end? We're a DataCite member and could join under their umbrella if it's easier, but I'm confident that there's a trove of biomedical data on figshare that would be valuable to the larger community if it were discoverable via DataMed.

Figshare is already indexed in some fashion (as of Datamed 3.0?). Can we get Dan's feedback on how it appears there?

This figshare item indexed in datamed is the pdf of a paper. Is that a dataset? https://datamed.org/display-item.php?repository=0070&id=5907f63b5152c6571c0c6bb8&query=ground%20squirrel (Note in this case the original article is behind a paywall. Is someone using figshare to bypass that?).

As each repository is added we may need additional review of how its contents map to the concept of a dataset.
