I am a librarian at Montana State University, and I'm working on an IMLS grant proposal for an institutional research data index prototype. Our proposed prototype aims to automatically harvest metadata for datasets that are published in external data repositories, and pull the records together into a local index that would provide discovery and access (but not storage) for institutional datasets. We're submitting to the Sparks category—the maximum award is $25,000 and the projects span for one year. Sparks projects focus on "rapid prototyping" that may or may not end up being successful.
This is a small project, but it has similarities to DataMed. I wonder if your team might have time to talk with our team in the next week or two to discuss how our projects might complement each other.
Hi there,

Thank you! Sara
