Bioconda/BioContainer position available

Hi all,

we were able to get some funding from ELIXIR to pay some work on Bioconda/BioContainers. The following ideas should/could be covered:

• Backup all our artifacts (tarballs, packages, containers) to some public archives and establish some mirrors across the globe. This would involve containers, CVMFS, FTP, BitTorrent and some Python scripting.
• Annotate our recipes with more metadata (license, doi, EDAM ontology ...) and integrate more tightly with bio.tools.
• Automatically build recipes for Python, R ... and devise a way to facilitate keeping them up-to-date. Potentially with a nice web-service as front-end to display certain package-states and that can trigger rebuilds.
• Co-organizing training events to teach Conda and Container building.
• Other crazy ideas we can come up with :)

This position will be for at least 6 month. My idea would be to organize this as some kind of internship/sabbatical program, if anyone would like to work for 6 month in Freiburg/Germany we could cover the costs from the ELIXIR budget and obviously you would not work alone. Part of this project are a lot of other ELIXIR partners from GB, Spain, Belgium ...
