@AmandaBirmingham, @charles-cowart, is this really required for the "Full Launch" milestone? To me this sounds like a nice to have for devs ...
@antgonza It would be nice to have; this is not the only case where once we leave a particular page, we can never retrieve/view the data again. The main reason it hasn't yet been an issue for the wet-lab is because they're currently duplicating all their work in Google Docs, etc. and have it there. IMHO, if this is going to be a full launch, this feature shouldn't be missing.
@antgonza To clarify, I don't think the target audience for this feature is devs--devs can look straight into the db and find the info there. In my view, this is pointed squarely at the users: we are building this system to allow the wet lab to easily record their actions, but in some cases (e.g. this issue) we record the info but then don't allow them to ever go back and see their records :-/ My vote is that this is a must-have rather than a nice-to-have.
Note that this issue applies both for plate pools (made through the "Pool library plates" menu item) and for sequencing pools (made through the "Prepare amplicon sequencing pool" menu item). The settings one would need to view for existing pools are different between these two kinds of pools, but the fact that you should be ABLE to view them is not :-/
Right now, there is no way (short of digging through the database) to look back and see what settings were used to create a pool. For example, if one does "Pool library plates", picks a plate, and makes, say, the selections shown below, and does the pooling, there is no way to ever see these selections again in the software interface. Going to the pool list will show the pool, and allow the user to download the pool file or (by checking the checkbox) prepare a sequencing pool from this pool, but not see the pooling settings in any way.
This is kind of a PITA while I try to figure out what settings I have to massage to reproduce existing pool files. Probably a good idea to get input from wet lab on when/whether they would ever look back at this info--but I'll come right out and say that they SHOULD be able to, because when someone in the lab told me from memory what pooling settings they used to get the existing pool files, they got them wrong : D
EDIT: Also, there is currently no way to see the pool's destination tube after making the tube--eep!
