Better support for interpreting balances #69

Open mortonjt opened 7 years ago

mortonjt commented 7 years ago

Right now, it is difficult to interpret balances - it requires quite a few auxiliary data structures in order to figure out which taxa are in the right and left balances.

Relevant to #23

👍

ideas:

1) Add branch or clade coloring via ETE2 to highlight distinctions 2) Parse taxon strings of tips to pick differentiating levels somehow? 3) remap 'left' and 'right' to more meaningful categories when possible. E.g. if evaluating balance significance with some sort of 2-way test, remap to 'higher in group A'.

Hi guys, are your trees annotated with NCBI taxIDs? that would enable annotating internal branches automatically. If I understood correctly your method, labels 'right' and' left' could then be linked to more meaningful (taxonomic) names
