etcsite data backup

We need a backup strategy for etcsite related data stored on the server.

That includes data from the webapps

• etcsite
  • the webapp dir
  • mysql db
  • /var/lib/etcsite/*
• otolite
  • the webapp dir
  • mysql db

I have created a bash script on etc.cs.umb.edu at /home/thomas/backup_before_upgrade/backup.sh that creates a compressed file named CURRENT_DATE.tar.gz with the specified data to save

I have installed a cron job on etc that runs a small modification of your script. The modified script backs up only the mysql. I cannot see a reason to back up tomcat wars or /var/lib/etcsite, but we can discuss that. The cron job makes a dump daily at 3 am. Still to do: a. arrange to push offsite b. decide longevity and rotation of backed up data.
