interface section navigation #40

Moving among the interface sections is somewhat clunky.  You have to click a 
bunch of forward or back buttons to get from section 1 to 6 or back again.  We 
need a way to navigate through these sections more directly.

I've made a first attempt at implementing improved navigation.  It might need 
some further polishing.  As soon as everyone else signs off on this, we can 
consider this issue closed.

During our last meeting, we agreed that the improved navigation is good enough 
(for now, at least), so the issue can be closed.
