SSHFS hanging finder on Powerbook G4 #146

Closed GoogleCodeExporter closed 8 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 8 years ago
What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Mount a SSHFS
2. Shutdown the machine with running SSH
3. Open Finder

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?

Finder should open normally.
What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
0.2.4

Please provide any additional information below.
SSHFS on top of MacFuse is hanging the Finder. Only solution to fix it is to
restart the machine.

What do you mean "shutdown the machine" and then "Open Finder"? Are you saying
you can't shutdown because
of a mounted sshfs volume? If your network connectivity goes away, Finder and
sshfs aren't going to play nicely.
There are workarounds: Have you read the FAQ, searched the macfuse-devel
mailing list, and the past issues
reported here?

The just released update to sshfs might be helpful to you.

There are many "Finder hanging" issues that have been reported. There's only so
much that can be done about
the Finder. The new version(s) of MacFUSE let you have a configurable timeout
with a means to eject the volume
if the file system doesn't respond for while. This would make the Finder
"unhang".
