United Arab Emirates dirham - BTC/AED Market price by Bisq Price Index is much too low #1499

Hi.

Bisq is showing the United Arab Emirates dirham BTC/AED market price to be about 50% lower than the actual market rate (eg. the amount showing on Coingecko). As a result, offers under the Bisq Sell tab make it look like the BTC seller is getting a great deal but they are not.

I was stupid enough to complete a few trades before noticing the problem. I trusted Bisq when it told me, "You will get x% more than the current market price (updated every minute)." In hindsight, I should have checked the equivalent $ value but I also feel let down by Bisq. I have sent the buyer a few Revolut messages but of course, they have not replied or agreed to pay the difference or reverse the trades. The issue has been reported to Bisq ops but the buyer is still advertising, attempting to exploit the issue, almost a week later (or more if the issue has been reported before).

Is there any recourse I can take to make up for my loss? I have the buyer's name if that helps. Is there any Bisq fund available to reimburse users due to Bisq issues? An option I thought of is to enter another trade with him and then open a dispute if the moderators would side with me so I can keep his fiat and my bitcoin from the new trade.

Thanks

Hi @WonkyGroovy

Sorry to hear this.

In situations like this you can take the trade to mediation.

Mediator will give you the option to refund the buyer and cancel the trade because the error was caused by an issue with the price node.

I am aware the price node is being looked into to get the price difference fixed.

To open mediation select the trade in question and press 'Crtl' and 'O'.

Hi @darawhelan

Thanks for your reply. Unfortunately, I only realised the problem after completing the trades. I think the Ctrl + O method only works on the "Open Trades" tab? It isn't working when I try it from the "History" tab.

Thanks

Hi @WonkyGroovy

Sorry to hear this. Yes only active trades can be sent to mediation. If the trade is complete the funds have been paid out and there would not be anything for the mediator to do.

An option I thought of is to enter another trade with him and then open a dispute if the moderators would side with me so I can keep his fiat and my bitcoin from the new trade.

This is a possibility, if the trader is using the same onion address / account details then you could take the trade to mediation and explain to the mediator what you would like to happen.

I am trying to get added to the GH so that I can attempt to contribute in some small way(s). I posted on Element as required, but then Element decided to begin giving me problems, so reaching out here with hope lol. Thanks. Sorry to bother yall.
