Penalty for "Buyer makes payment from an account with a different name": define "different" #45

I would like to know the official stance of Bisq on this issue, based on which I might decide to delete and recreate my payment account with the correct "Surname Name" sequence, or keep it as it is "Name Surname".

Would be ideal for someone with experience in dispute resolution to comment here.

@bisq-network/support-agents what are your thoughts?

Hi @ephestione

I see the reason for different bank name is to protect from fraud / chargebacks.

When it is clear the name difference is due to the way the bank displays a persons name then there should be no penalty, but the individual should be advised to change their name to match what is shown on the bank.

The problem is some banks will display the name differently for different transactions. Also payee is sometimes displayed differently than payer.

I would like to know the official stance of Bisq on this issue (and maybe have that stated in the wiki itself, as an example), based on which I might decide to delete and recreate my payment account with the correct "Surname Name" sequence, or keep it as it is "Name Surname".

If you are currently trading with Name Surname and not having any issues I would leave it like that. If you have run into any issues and 'Name Surname' is coming up as 'Surname Name' I would consider changing it.
