Creating new settings file failed #30

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?

"creating new settings file failed. please delete this file:
C:\Users\<USER>\AppData\Roaming\Winamp\RemoteControl.dat"

Directory "C:\Users\<USER>\AppData\Roaming\Winamp\" does not exist. If it is
created manually, everything works fine.

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
Using version 1.00 on Windows 7 SP1 64-bit

Hi,

this is strange. Usually the directory should be created when Winamp is
installed or on the first Winamp start. Have you tried running Winamp with
admin rights or reinstalling it? When both don't work, just create the folder
on your own.

I've got the same issue. Anything working fine but changing settings. Creating
a Winamp folder within AppData\Roaming\ solves the issue only the half way. The
AppData\Roaming\Winamp does not exist on my disk, either and on purpose,
because I've moved my Winamp profile folder using the "paths.ini" within the
Winamp installation folder.

Contents of paths.ini:
[Winamp]
inidir=E:\profiles\Winamp

So, the RemoteControl.dat should be created there:
E:\profiles\Winamp\RemoteControl.dat!
I think there is a simple way within the Winamp SDK to retrieve the actual
profile folder. Use this way to construct the path to your settings file, since
the profile has not to be in AppData\Roaming\Winamp.

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
RemoteControl 1.00, Windows 7 SP1 64-bit, Winamp 5.623
