Update: Uninstalled Simple DNSCrypt and removed all traces/reg entries. Rebooted, reinstalled and same problem No access to GUI no system tray icon. Then restored an (OS) image backup 3 days old where Simple DNSCrypt installed and the GUI, system tray icon is now working
That strongly suggests that a Windows update, possibly for dotNet, broke Simple DNSCrypt, so the cause needs to be identified and the code fixed.
Ok tell me what you need if you need more info 👍
I don't need it, I'm not the developer(s), and don't do dotNet development, so can't help. I only made an informed observation to hopefully nudge the developer to fix it after several months of seeming no activity.
This has happened again, No tray icon, and no win 10 update in the last few days. Just this time cicking on the shortcut starts SimpleDNS. The service is still running without the icon showing and a DNS test link indicated my DNS was not my ISP. Yet starting the shortcut, because there is no icon in the system tray. 'SimpleDNS' seems to reload not just appear.
No tray icon and double clicking the shortcut, Simple DNSCrypt will not open. This was working yesterday, upgraded memory today and the icon disappears, link wont open. Tried repair did nothing, everything else/software is working fine, suggestions?
