This is a continuation of #1401, fixing issues created by #1378.
Problems addressed and tested:
Trying to delete other types of files (.cct/.lit/.msg, with the last not supposed to work).
Using a trailing slash should act differently than not. (It forces recognition of the path as a directory.)
Directories should be detected as directories, even if they "look" like files. (/foo.tx/bar.txt)
Should early-out with not-found errors, unless -f is specified.
Specifying the same file multiple times should successfully delete it the first time and produce errors for the other times (since it is already deleted).
This is a continuation of #1401, fixing issues created by #1378.
