Open question: node versions and defense #436

If we have nodes 0-5 for each team/user, are they assigned a variety of versions (not in a predictable pattern)?

Can users update the source code of the nodes? Would that allow a way to do defense? Are we concerned about defense?

Each team should have the same distribution of vulnerable & updated nodes. Altering the source code would be impractical in warnet and also, if each player can just update to current master as soon as the game starts, nothing will happen. So my opinion is, no defense except knocking out your opponents as quickly as possible
