Use of libsodium versus ECIES #2

Are there specific reasons why people adopting this should use libsodium over ECIES, which moneybutton and a variety of libraries in the ecosystem use already? Looking at it, and not being familiar with libsodium, I suspect that the best path forward would be to simply substitute in ECIES. Additionally, bitcoin public and private keys are already well understood, whereas the specification provides no guidance to whatever key format libsodium requires.
