The "Smart Power" mode of the DW1000 UWB chip increases the transmit power with the assumption that the radio is not sending more than one packet per millisecond. Since we are not sending more than one packet per millisecond in any of our ranging algorithm we can enable this mode. We have verified that the smart-power mode allows us to get at least 3 times more range: https://wiki.bitcraze.io/misc:investigations:lps-max-range#results
The smart-power mode should be enabled by default in the node.
