Problem with 2 routers nevion #2

Hello, In our system we have 2 video routers installed (128x128, 64x64), in two levels. The software companion recognize both routers, and whith the label Connections / Instances, all inputs/ outputs appear. The problem is when we want to program a button, only 128 in/outs appear (a mixture of the 2 routers ins/outs).

Thank you very much, and congratulations on this project.

PD; It would be very good to also have access to the virtual routers programmed inside nevion.

@jordi-p So to clarify you have to routers 128 and 64, and you have two instances set up in companion, one for each. And each instance shows the correct amount of inputs, so 64 in/out in one and 128 in/out in the other instance. Did i understand that correctly?

Then if the above is true, all inputs should be visible, but they Will be slit into 2 different actions on the buttons, one for each instance. So if you only se the first 128 in/outs, you Will have to look in the action drop down for the second action that activates the 64*64 router.

We have only one instance, and recognize the two routers inside.

And this instance shows the correct amount of inputs, 64 in/out in one, and 128 in/out in the other router (and all correct names).

and when we program a button, the 2 routers appear. But the 2 routers have the same inputs and outputs.

(the first 64in/outs are from the 64x64 router, and next are 65..128 from the second router)

Hmmm, don't think I ever tested it with more than one router, on one ip, or for that matter on multiple ip's.

Does it actually work within the ones you can choose, and if you cross between them what happens then? Like an input on one to an output on the other.

Like an input on one to an output on the other, this crosspoint doesn´t work, but an input to output on the same router Works.

In the attachment you can see the names of inputs/outs are the same in both routers.

As expected did not think it would work but was curious if it would crash or how an error because of it.

Also, you can't add an image as an attachment unless directly though GitHub.

This seems so "wrong" from my point of view, and have a feeling that I would need access to the equipment, in order to debug this phenomenon, via a Teamspeak or something like that. Originally when I wrote v2.0 of the module I had access to a pc on one of my friend's setups, but they only had one 64x64 unit in the system. in my head it seems like an indexing error or something deeper. in the way it reads the lists. but the fact that you don't need 2 instances came as a surprise, but that is properly the fact that I haven't had experience with it in the real world. And I suspect it's because you connect to the controller and not the mixer/hub itself.

but a mac with Teamviewer, so a dev build could run on it, would be the optimal setup for debugging it. simply because we don't have any protocol documentation and it's all done by reverse-engineering the protocol.

sorry for the delay in replying, we are in full production, a teamviewer with one computer conected to the router is ​​complicated, during production (it is a 24/7 reality). but I have been looking for information about the communications protocol. I have found this document, where everything is detailed. @jordi-p I think I know what the problem is, but it will probably require a few tests. like just opening a build see what it does and report back what it's posting in the log.

I have compiled the first attempt, at the link below. this build tries one of the options i have in mind, but most importantly it enables the debug info in the log.

In order to use/test this please use a windows machine and make a backup of this folder: C:\Users\%username%\AppData\Roaming\Companion that folder contains all information about your current setup if you have one. and this might break the release build of companion. after taking a backup of the folder, just delete the folder and companion will create a fresh install on the next boot. In order to return to your normal set up just do the reverse.

In order to run the Dev build with out installing it, unzip the file: 2020-11-04-Companion-2.1.1-Nevion.zip and go to electron-output\win-unpacked and run the Companion.exe This will run the build without overriding the normal installation of companion, (but it does still affect the setting, therefore DO the backup. or do this on a separate pc)

Error with nevion instance. Then when you try to configure a button, the nevion array options do not appear.

Is posible control the router whith a tcp instance. One button for a login, and other for a crosspoint.

not to sure what you mean, but the problem you have is that internally in the module we currently make an array and prase all input into it, and this works great with one unit, but when adding more than one, we just override the old, so what you are getting is the first 128x128 from the first unit, then the 64x64 overrides the first half. that's the bug, but it's super hard to fix/test without access to something to test it on...

the whole problem is a 1d array that should have been a 2d array.
