Are you using Pro7 on a Windows machine?
Have you seen this section in the module instructions:
There is a known issue (that will likely never get fixed due it not impacting anything else except Companion) - So I have made some "workarounds" that you can turn on.... What are you current "workaround settings" set to at the moment?

ProPresenter 7.9.1 works with Companion, but eventually grids to a halt. In the setup where I saw this happen, only buttons for Previous Slide and Next Slide were being used. It can take several minutes for the problem to reveal itself, but ProPresenter will become completely unresponsive until the connection to Companion is shut down. Renewed Vision has been informed of this problem, but they preferred to argue about it, rather than look into it. According to them, their own apps that connect to ProPresenter do not cause this problem.
